Everyone has an opinion, and everyone is an expert on something. Writing for Suite and the Internet not only allows you to prove yourself, but actually raises your worth

Editors Choice

In today's competitive market, you need an edge. A way for others to see your potential before you even walk in for that interview, or a way for your boss/company to see you in a different light. Writing and being published on the internet helps, but you need to be with a recognized site - Suite's reputation helps your reputation.

Why Write Online

Easy access to the Internet allows everyone to see your published work. It's a fast and inexpensive way to expand your audience. It allows potential employers to quickly check you out without even contacting your references - and shows them your style, attitude and ability. CAREFUL though - ensure what you write IS right.

Added Benefits

Choosing what to write about can expand your horizons. If you have a passion for animals but work as a stock broker, writing allows you to relax. It also shows your boss you are not just another broker looking for the big break - you are actively involved with the world. Chances are you will NOT collapse with the pressure of your job as you have active outside interests. Companies realize the more you do outside of work, the happier you will be, and a happy worker is a productive worker.

A Different Light

Once you are published on the Internet, you are looked at in a different light. You took the time and energy to GET published. As well, what you write about may open doors to future opportunities. Not just in writing. Showing your talents makes you more valuable as an employee, both for potential employers and current working situations. You are showing initiative - you are not afraid to take a chance on negative feedback - especially if you show continued work despite comments from others or posters.

Why Suite101.com

Writing online is NOT the same as writing for a newspaper or journal. Yes, you can easily create your own blog and hope others notice you as you rant on your opinion or what you think counts.

Or you can write serious researched articles, using your own knowledge and experience, and hope someone reads it.

Or you do it for the professional site of Suite101.com. Suite provides great info on HOW to capture the attention of your potential audience, and how to write online. Yes, it's different. And by being part of the Suite Team, you automatically get to reap the rewards of a professional site - a ready-made audience eager to read your work.

Bottom Line

Anyone can create a website nowadays, anyone can write a blog or articles or thoughts, and post to that website. The problem is - capturing the audience.

Suite not only provides the audience, but a solid reputation. Not everyone can be a Suite Writer. Once you are though, you'll find more doors open to opportunities to enhance your existing career.

Hey Katharine!

Glad you enjoyed the article. Unfortunately, I have no stats for individual articles, and consider the income supplemental. I do know the gardening writers do very well. And I am happy with my supplemental - keeps going up, which is nice. I can't say no to making a living at it though - I do think you can - but not right away.

I do firmly suggest you take the dive and start applying - it will only help you, AND you'll have fun while learning how to write for the internet.

Let me know, ok?

Hi Paym,
I too am a career teacher and I'm thinking of jumping into writing for Suite 101. I have a background in ESL, but LOTS of other interests. Because I am solely responsible for providing for my two children, my biggest question is about earning potential. Living abroad, I find few good job opportunities. What, on average, would a good, timely, and interesting article earn? Is there a way to make a living doing this? Even if the answer is no, I may just dive in for the fun of it!

Hi Liz,

Well, other than making a commitment (and the conditions are clearly explained) - I can't think of a downside - can you?

Hmm, sometimes I'd like to have more space/word count for my blogs - but then, it really does become an article

Surely there are down-sides to writing for Suite 101. Can you think of some?
